Jhang’s Maha Yousuf earns a PHD from prestigious Stanford University

On Twitter, she officially announced advancements in her research, expressing gratitude towards Johanna Weker, an esteemed authority in Synchrotron-based X-ray characterization of materials, and Mike Toney, a distinguished faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her academic profile on the university’s website reveals her utilization of cutting-edge imaging diagnostic tools to delve into the failure mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries under extreme fast charging conditions (XFC). Guided by Prof. Michael F. Toney and Dr. Johanna Nelson Weker at SLAC, she delved into the specifics, employing high-resolution neutron and X-ray imaging techniques to scrutinize the characteristics of Li plating on graphite anodes during XFC.

Her accolades span various prestigious awards, including the 2022 American Chemical Society CAS Future Leader, 2020 Stanford Distinguished Student Energy Lecturer, and multiple ECS and American Institute of Chemical Engineers Travel Grants. Furthermore, she boasts an M.S. in chemical engineering from Stanford (2017) and a B.E. from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan (2013). Prior to her tenure at Stanford, she gained experience as a drilling engineer on oil and gas rigs in the Amazon rainforests of Colombia.
