Educators to Benefit from New Initiative Following Student Program Launch

The Punjab government is expanding its electric vehicle program, offering a chance for 15,000 teachers across the province to receive e-bikes for their commutes. This initiative, led by Education Minister Sikandar Hayat, follows the recent launch of a similar program for students.

Phased Distribution to Ease Commuting Costs

The e-bike program for teachers will be rolled out in three stages. The first phase will see 5,000 electric bikes distributed, with an additional 10,000 provided in subsequent phases. This program aims to address the financial challenges faced by teachers due to rising petrol prices by offering a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for traveling to schools.

Minister Foresees Savings and Sustainability

Minister Hayat expressed optimism about the program’s potential to significantly reduce commuting costs for teachers. He believes the initiative will deliver a double benefit – promoting both cost-effectiveness and environmental responsibility.

Following in the Footsteps of Student Program

This announcement follows the launch of a student-focused bike program by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Aimed at university students, this program offers a mix of electric and petrol-powered bikes, with the government subsidizing costs and covering initial down payments.

This expansion of the e-bike program demonstrates the Punjab government’s commitment to providing sustainable and economical transportation options for both students and educators.
