YouTube is enhancing creator-fan connections by expanding access to its Communities feature, aimed at reducing reliance on external platforms like Discord for audience interaction.
Launched last fall at the Made for YouTube event, Communities remains exclusive to mobile users. This feature provides a dedicated space where creators can post text and images, similar to X, while enabling followers to engage in discussions without leaving the platform.
By keeping these interactions within YouTube’s ecosystem, the platform aims to offer a more integrated experience for creators and fans.

YouTube shared in a blog post that after positive feedback from a small group of creators during testing, they are excited to expand access.
Creators will now benefit from a moderation system within the YouTube Studio app’s Community Hub, which allows them to manage channel activity and get AI-powered suggestions for fan engagement.
In addition, YouTube has renamed the Community tab to “Posts” for clearer differentiation between its engagement features.
Communities access is currently invitation-based. Selected creators will receive notifications through email and a banner on their channel page in the YouTube app. After receiving an invitation, creators can follow the “Go to Community” prompt to activate the feature. While there’s no official timeline for a broader rollout, YouTube plans to expand it once the test phase proves successful.
